Patrick Nash > "Ben"

I stayed at the Brewery Gulch Inn in Mendocino on a solo trip to California in 1997 (and again in 1998). Ben was the B&B's host's dog and was quite a character. On a walk around the B&B, Ben led me through a forest to a clearing where he had found a gopher hole. While following him, Ben would run up ahead, then run back to see where I was, then run up ahead again, then run back to check on my progress. When I finally reached the clearing, he ran over to the gopher hole and waited for me to come over and see what he had found. I could just imagine him thinking, "You gotta see what I found - follow me! Where are you? There you are, c'mon! Are you still coming? Yeah, this way! Over here! LOOK!"
